Common Areas Of Research

At Silverstone Research we perform independent evaluations of oral healthcare products. Our area of focus is testing the efficacy of consumer dental products and subject safety.

Tooth Whitening

Although teeth are not naturally meant to be completely white, many want a brighter smile. Responding to this desire, a wide range of "whitening" options has become available to consumers. These products fall into two main categories: surface whiteners and bleaches.

Sensitivity

Tooth sensitivity is a common name for dentin hypersensitivity or root sensitivity. If hot, cold, sweet or very acidic foods and drinks, or breathing in cold air, makes your teeth or a tooth sensitive or painful then you have sensitive teeth.

Gingivitis

Gingivitis, also generally called gum disease or periodontal disease, begins with bacterial growth in your mouth and may end (if not properly treated) with tooth loss due to destruction of the tissue that surrounds your teeth.

Plaque

Plaque is a soft, sticky film that builds up on your teeth and contains millions of bacteria. The bacteria in plaque cause tooth decay and gum disease if they are not removed regularly through brushing and flossing.
